Rallyday’s 70/30 Rule

In this video, Rallyday Partners’ Strategy Architect, Dan Cremons, discusses what we call the “70/30 Rule,” which describes the ratio of pulling to pushing that we aspire to at Rallyday. In an ideal world, our portfolio companies are pulling us in 70% of the time, and we are pushing on the portfolio company 30% of the time. We realize this ratio will ebb and flow over time, but it remains our north star.

Here are some ways we work to ensure this ratio does not get out of balance with our portfolio companies:

  • We invest in reporting and data quality to ensure we have a shared source of reality.
  • We invest in open and proactive feedback on our relationship dynamic, especially when we are uncomfortable.
  • We adopt the mentality that we are all value creators together vs. investors and operators apart.
  • We set clear team agreements together during the Rallyday Accelerator Program .
